A stress test of 40 AI actors fighting in a 5m x 5m NavMesh grid comparing the physics of Unity 4 and Unity 5.
The erratic behaviour in Unity 5 is due to some significant changes in the physics engine between the two versions. In Unity 5 the actor’s were added « as is » without any changes.
Performance between the two Unity versions is pretty substantial and additional gains can be made by adjusting the actors code to better utilise the updated physics engine.
